May 2023 Reading Recap

We are ALMOST halfway through the year, and I am EXHAUSTED. I keep going through mini two-day reading slumps, then devouring picture books, and then repeating the cycle. I’m incredibly behind on the “for me” books I want to read because of my other commitments, and while that’s FINE….it’s also annoying to ME, a little bit.

Anyway….May 2023 is over. I spent the first weekend of June in Connecticut for my college reunion, so stay tuned for the next reading recap to be even more chaotic than this one.

To touch briefly on my goals for this month, I am chugging along. I’m reading like one or two short story collections a month, but none of them the ones that I pulled into a stack at the end of December 2022 when I set this goal. I did a few audiobooks…but they took me FOREVER because I just kept forgetting about them. Whoops.

Anyway…here’s the raw numbers:

• Total Books Read In May: 72
• Audiobooks Listened to: 3 (2 adult, 1 bio for kids)
• Books DNF’d: 6
• Short Story Collections Read: 2
• Picture Books (Including PB Bios) Read: 44
• Graphic Novels Read: 7
• Books Read for Capitol Choices: 19

72 books is….technically…the most books I’ve read in a month this year so far. It’s an insane amount! But so so many of them were picture books! That’s FINE because of this blog, and my work getting ahead, and catching up on Capitol Choices, etc.

One thing I did appreciate about my reading this month was that I picked up some graphic novels I was really excited about and actually read like…most of them!

Thinking about June 2023, I already know I need to really carve out some time to read, because I have my college reunion, DAR Continental Congress, family visiting, etc, and I’m going to realllyyyyyyyy need to be intentional to not fall so far behind that I die.
