September is always a killer publishing month! Literally and figuratively, haha. I could probably make a list of 100 books coming out this month that sound cool, but we all know I don’t have time to read them all, so I’ll focus on these six.
What September 2023 books are you looking forward to?
In These Hallowed Halls: A Dark Academia Anthology
I’ve been hyped about this once since I saw the Publisher’s Weekly announcement! I love Dark Academia, and my excitement was only slightly dampened by my coworker’s middling review, which was mostly about some stories being much better than others. I’ll still give it a read though–especially because it has a story by M.L. Rio, and I loved If We Were Villains. This title is out September 12th, 2023.
Wildfire by Breena Bard
I am always looking for more graphic novels, and I really enjoyed Breena Bard’s last one, Tresspassers. This climate change based graphic novel sounds like it’ll be a great read—and perfect to keep tiding me over until the new Raina. Wildfire is out in hardcover and paperback on September 5th, 2023.
A Shot in the Dark by Victoria Lee
I DEVOURED A Lesson in Vengeance, and while this seems pretty different from that one, I’m excited to see what Victoria Lee does with this one. It’s got romance and maybe a little mystery and I hope a lot of drama. I pre-ordered this one and my goal is to read it within a MONTH of publication. We’ll see…this title is out on September 5th, 2023.
The (Super Secret) Octagon Valley Society by Melissa de la Cruz
I was a HUGE Melissa de la Cruz fan as a kid, and Blue Bloods was my JAM. I’ve fallen off her ship recently but she’s kept going forward. This one looks interesting though–a high tech institute, secret, mysteries, etc. I’m in–with a library hold, haha. This title is out on, you guessed it, September 5th, 2023.
Champion of Fate by Kendare Blake
Big Kendare Blake fan here…but I never picked up her one after the Three Crowns series. I’m going to get to this one, I swear, eventually! It’s a duology starter, has female warriors, and is giving me Dark Wonder Woman vibes. This title releases September 19th, 2023.
Of Dreams and Destiny by Sandhya Menon
When this series was announced, it was like Sandhya Menon plucked my dreams into reality–a boarding school for royalty with a fairy tale twist but not a fantasy. I was on her street team and an early reader of the first two, and I can’t wait to read this one! It’s out September 19th, 2023
