The year is almost over! It’s almost my birthday! THE YEAR IS ALMOST OVER! Ahhhh. I have so much reading I’ve loved this year, and so much more that I hope to do befroe 2025 is upon us. Let’s dive into five titles coming out in November that I’m excited about. November may be a slower release month, but it’s a big reading month for me due to the long-weekend of Veterans Day, election day poll working where I read like 5 books, and Thanksgiving travel.
The Queen’s Game by Katharine McGee
Katharine McGee is an instant-buy for me. I loved her Thousandth Floor series, I loved American Royals, and I’m excited for this new historical fiction YA set in 19th century Europe! It publishes on November 12th–a little birthday gift to me.
“It’s 1889 and the world is about to change. Technology is rapidly advancing and Europe is on the brink of a social revolution, the likes of which has never been seen. In the midst of all this are three princesses. They have no idea what’s coming but they do know one thing–what they want.”
Not for the Faint of Heart by Lex Croucher
Lex Croucher is a British author I got really into when she had a Bridgerton x Little Women x Booksmart run of books, and I’m a bit behind on reading her newer stuff cuz she’s become very prolific, but this LGBTQ Robin Hood-esque story sounds good! It’s YA and publishes November 26th.
“Lex Croucher’s Not For the Faint of Heart is a thrilling adventure full of hijinks, found family, and romance destined to change the lives of the inhabitants of the Greenwood Forest forever.”
In Want of a Suspect by Tirzah Price
I need to catch up on this series, but Tirzah is a beloved Book Riot podcaster, and I genuinely enjoyed the first book in this Austen-inspired YA murder mystery series with a spunky heroine, so I should put this one higher up my list. I think this is the start of a new spin-off series though? It publishes November 12th!
“The first book in a new mystery duology starring Lizzie Bennet and Mr. Darcy from the acclaimed Jane Austen Murder Mysteries! Lizzie and Darcy work on a case that brings up ghosts from their personal and professional pasts.
Mallory in Full Color by Elisa Stone Leahy
This middle grade novel publishes on November 19th and caught my attention in the catalog! The “normal girl goes viral when her story leaks” reminds me of my favorite Disney Channel Original Movie Read It and Weep, and I just love a good middle grade novel.
“A funny, poignant middle grade novel about a tween who navigates questions of identity and friendship when her anonymous web comic goes viral, from the acclaimed author of Tethered to Other Stars.”
Readers for Life: How Reading and Listening in Childhood Shapes Us (Essay Anthology)
Hear me out…I think this would kill on audiobook. Fingers crossed! I’m obviously a librarian and really interested in literature and scholarship on the importance of the role of reading in children, especially in building the joy of reading and not just phonics skills, etc. The contributor list makes me think this is going to be more academic that conversational, but we’ll see! It publishes on November 22, 204.
“Readers for Life is a collection of essays, mainly specially commissioned for the book, by fiction authors and literary scholars, who reflect on their childhood or adolescent memories of reading. The essays explore how the act of reading shapes an individual, from our formative years into adulthood and beyond. Instead of focusing on reading as an act of escapism, or mere literacy, these writings celebrate reading as a lifelong, joyful experience that intertwines past and present. By revealing our diverse reading histories, the collection fosters awareness of the profound impact of reading on a person’s development and offers readers insights that will enrich their own literary experiences.”
