If you love books about royalty, real or fictional, these are the books for you. We all dreamed of being princesses when we grew up, and since that didn’t work out for most of us, we might as well get lost in a book where it happens to someone else! I’ve read most of the books on this list because, like you might imagine, I love a good royalty book. Give me royalty and boarding school and I’ll never come back!
Some of my favorites in general on this list include The Selection Series, which is kind of the like Hunger Games meets the Bachelor but with a lot prettier dresses; My Lady Jane, which is a historical fiction retelling with some added magic and a lot of humor; and The Jewel Series by Amy Ewing which combines all my loves: royalty, dystopias, and plot twists.
If you want books about royalty that are a little off the beaten track, as in avoid a lot of the conventional royalty book tropes, check out the Three Dark Crowns series, Fatal Thrones: The Wives of Henry VIII Tell All, or Royal Bastards.
Happy royal reading!
