8 Books Set in Boarding Schools

Nothing sells me on a novel or series faster than finding out it is set at a boarding school. Maybe it’s because I grew up reading Harry Potter and watching Zoey 101 and now attend college with a ton of people who went to boarding schools, but I’m hooked on them. It’s so fascinating. I believe that setting a YA book at a boarding school allows a teenage character so much more freedom than a normal home situation does. It also builds an interesting cast of characters that you can latch on to. In that vein, here are eight books (mostly series…) set in boarding schools!

The Harry Potter Series

Harry Potter has never even heard of Hogwarts when the letters start dropping on the doormat at number four, Privet Drive. Addressed in green ink on yellowish parchment with a purple seal, they are swiftly confiscated by his grisly aunt and uncle.
