May Reading Recap

In May I graduated from college, moved back home to Kentucky, studied for the GRE, and read a ton of books. Here’s a recap.

My goal was to read 20 books in May and while I didn’t reach that,I swear I have a reason. I read a lot of books, but there was a period of about a week where I wasn’t listening to any audiobook, which is abnormal for me. Usually I binge-listen to audiobooks, but I couldn’t find one that grabbed me. I finally found one the other day and am listening to Protecting the President.

Total Books Consumed: 17, including:

  • Fatal Throne
  • Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
  • My Plain Jane
  • Harry, a History
  • From Twinkle with Love
  • Our Kind of Cruelty
  • Listen to Your Heart
  • Superfreakonomics
  • All of This is True
  • A Court of Frost and Starlight
  • Sourdough
  • Dirty Book Club
  • Death of Mrs Westaway
  • Nevermoor: The Trials of Morrigan Crow
  • When to Rob a Bank
  • Midnight at the Bright Ideas Bookstore
  • The Witch Doesn’t Burn in This One

Books Read: 12

Audiobooks Listened To: 5, including

  • Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
  • Harry, a History
  • A Court of Frost and Starlight
  • Superfreakonomics
  • When to Rob a Bank

BOTM Pick: So, because I was moving home this month and extremely overwhelmed by all the book choices I had, I skipped this month. Some of them, like the Perfect Mother, sounded cool, and I have an ARC of Mars Room I can read, but I did NOT need more books this month. I’m excited for June picks though. Check out my upcoming blog post on that!

Favorite Book: Hmm..This is difficult. I LOVED My Plain Jane because that writing style is so great and it was a really fun book, but I also surprisingly fell in love with Nevermoor: The Trials of Morrigan Crow. What a fun book that really immerses you in the world.

Least Favorite Book: I’m going to have to go with A Court of Frost and Starlight. Check out my review of it if you want more details, but it’s not even that it was poorly written or BAD, per se. It was just boring and mundane and unnecessary.

Here’s my goal June TBR, which includes like 12 books because I’m going to be traveling a lot and reading some bigger books:

  • Protecting the President
  • Outlander
  • Lincoln in the Bardo
  • Pivot Point
  • Split Second
  • Wrinkle in Time
  • Fun Home
  • People Like Us
  • STAGS
  • The Silence of the Seas
  • And Then There Were None
  • American Panda

What did you read in May? Did you meet all your goals?

Oh, Outlander is a big one. Only ever watched the TV version. 17 is A LOT to me. You did great!!

I think May was ok for me, unexpectedly DNFed a few books, too.
