So ARC August was a complete failure for me. I acquired like a dozen new ARCs and only read four because I’m the worst. I started grad school and moved cities so I should claim that as an excuse, but I just can’t get away with that. Luckily, I really enjoyed most of the ARCs I read in August. Here’s a mini-recap! Sadie by Courtney Summers
This was so good! Gut-wrenching and well done. If you love true crime and podcasts and teen protagonists who kick butt, check it out. Also look for The Girls wherever you get your podcasts.
My Squirrel Days by Ellie Kemper
Not as great as I was hoping, but it had some funny moments. I think this will be better as an audiobook. It’s perfect for people who’ve seen Kemper on The Office or The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.
People Kill People by Ellen Hopkins
Wow! This book about gun violence was somehow less violent than I thought but had some amazingly complex and unlikeable but understandable characters and the ending will shock you.
RIP Eliza Hart
I wasn’t as impressed with this book as I was hoping to be. I thought it would be a murder mystery but the mystery is cleared up pretty early. It’s a good discussion of mental health though!
ARCs I’m Really Excited About
- Dry by Neal and Jarrod Schusterman
- I’ll Be There for You by Kelsey Miller
- Fame Fate and the First Kiss by Kasie West
- The Lady’s Guide to Petticoats and Piracy by Mackenzi Lee
