September Reading Recap

September was a weird reading month for me. It’s beginning the season of “OMG every book I want to read is coming out at the same time” but I’m also working a full time job, in four grad school classes, and writing on the side, so I didn’t have as much time for reading as I wanted this month. But I had some success with catching up on my reading and

ARCs Read:4

Audiobooks Listened To:

  • Happiness Project
  • Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy
  • Whiskey in a Teacup

BOTM Pick: None…Once again, I couldn’t commit to a pick but I KNOW I’m taking advantage of the October picks! I’ve been toying with just canceling my membership but I know I’ll regret it.

Audible Credit Used: Whiskey in a Teacup by Reese Witherspoon! I also have two books on pre-order for October that I’m excited about: Them by Ben Sasse and the new History of Magic narrated by Natalie Dormer.

Favorite Book: Lethal White by Robert Galbraith. I’ve been waiting for the new Cormoran Strike book since 2015 and this did not disappoint. Strike and Robin are such great characters and Rowling takes so much care with the details. They’re intricate and complicated but also deliciously binge-able.

Least Favorite Book: Hmm. None of these books were “bad” perse, but I didn’t love some of them as much as I thought I would. Whiskey in a Teacup just wasn’t what I was expecting at all. But That’s Not What Really Happened was I guess the worst I read this month. It just wasn’t well paced and didn’t feel like it had anything to work towards.

October TBR: All the books. All of them.

  • Opposite of Innocent
  • #DoNotDisturb
  • Lady’s Guide to Petticoats and Piracy
  • The Child Finder
  • Spark of Light
  • An Absolutely Remarkable Thing
  • City of Ghosts
  • Dear Evan Hansen
  • History of Magic
  • Wildcard
  • Two Dark Reigns

What was the best book you read in September? What are you looking forward to in October?
