March & April Reading Round-up

The other day I realized I didn’t do one of these for March but uh, we’re in the middle of a pandemic, so it’s fine.

I read, by my count, 28 books in March–including some great books. Here’s what I read in March 2020–when I attempted to read the last 20 Newbery medalists but was derailed by la corona

  • GoodTalk
  • New Kid
  • One Year at Ellsmere  (ARC)
  • Merci Suare Changes Gears
  • Hello, Universe
  • The Call of the Wild
  • Moment of Truth (audio)
  • The Girl Who Drank the Moon
  • Crossover
  • That Can Be Arranged (ARC)
  • Flora & Ulysses
  • The One and Only Ivan
  • The Cousins (ARC)
  • Dead End in Norvelt
  • Home Before Dark (ARC)
  • Moon Over Manifest
  • The Holdout (BOTM)
  • When You Reach Me
  • Fair Play (audio)
  • Little Fires Everywhere
  • The Graveyard Book
  • Good Masters! Sweet Ladies!
  • The First Time (ARC)
  • The Higher Power of Lucky
  • Jo & Laurie (ARC)
  • Everything Beautiful In Its Time (ARC)
  • Daisy Jones & The Six (BOTM)
  • The One and Only Bob (ARC)

A lot of reading was done! I got a good amount of ARCs read–which makes me happy–and I read a good chunk of the Newbery winners I wanted to read, even if the rest got locked in my library when work closed. Jo & Laurie was one of my FAVORITE books on the month and yes it’s basically fanficiton but it’s splendid. I also enjoyed Kasie West’s new book, Moment of Truth, and the new Jenna Bush Hager book out this fall–Everything Beautiful In Its Time.

Now, onto April, when I launched a book club with FFL so I had some reading catch-up to do–like reading American Royals to himself.

  • Everything I Never Told You (audio)
  • Live in Love (ARC)
  • The Kingdom of Back (BOTM)
  • American Royals (FFL Book Club)
  • Winterborne Home for Vengeance and Valor
  • Beartown (audio/DAR Book club)
  • Unknown Valor
  • Majesty (ARC)
  • Liar & Spy
  • A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder (BOTM)
  • Snug
  • American Princess (FFL Book Club)
  • Fortitude (audio)
  • The Faithful Spy
  • Clap When You Land (ARC)
  • Rick (audio)
  • The View from Saturday
  • Catherine House (ARC)
  • Walk Two Moons
  • Burnout (audio)
  • Diana; Princess of the Amazons
  • Age of Innocence
  • Monk’s Guide to Happiness
  • I Will Judge You By Your Bookshelf

Fewer books read in April, but some that I LOVED and so many I’d been meaning to get to.Catherine House BLEW me away. Winterborne was also great. I loved Good Girl’s Guide to Murder and ordered the UK paperback right afterwards. I also read 4 books to review for FFL–basically, if you include the OG American Royals–and it’s sequel, which tbh isn’t as good as the first. Age of Innocence was my “classic I haven’t read” pick.

Reviews incoming and I’ll probably do another “oops, didn’t review” post soon.

My goal in May is to keep being really intentional with my reading and STOP requesting books on Netgalley, LOL. I want to make my way through some of my ARCs and read some BOTM books too, so let’s see haha. At least I won’t be picking up library books anytime soon. Also…planning for Tale of Two Cities to be my classic pick.
