October 2020 Reading Recap

Somehow…it’s November….and this year is almost over? And I’ve read SO MANY BOOKS. As of October 30th, I’ve read 221 books, and I’m on track to read like another one before I finish this post.

I ended up reading 21 books this month, including several ARCs

My favorites were probably the Talia Hibbert & Lily Menon ones. My least favorite, unfortunately, was probably A Million Junes.

Here’s what I read this month:

  • Take a Hint, Dani Brown
  • Anxious people (BOTM)
  • Cobble Hill (ARC)
  • Cub
  • Displacement
  • Cracked Up To Be
  • Act Your Age, Eve Brown (ARC)
  • A Hopeful Heart
  • Make Up Break Up (ARC)
  • Being Heumann (Audiobook, DAR Book Club)
  • All This Time (ARC)
  • Snow Flakes
  • Beautiful Wild (ARC)
  • Booked for Christmas
  • A Million Junes
  • Heiress Apparently (ARC)
  • All Together Now
  • Stay Woke (Yoga Book Club)
  • Bringing Down the Duke (BOTM)
  • Go With the Flow
  • A Rogue of One’s Own (BOTM)

And I’m about halfway through Secret Life of Groceries (audiobook) and Camelot Betrayal (ARC)

So…yeah. I got a fair amount of reading in. Read 3 Book of the Month books, which is good, and a couple of ARCs. Got a bit sidetracked by some graphic novels for work…and reading for my yoga book club, which then got moved to a day I can’t attend about 2 hours AFTER I finished reading the book.

I enjoyed MOST of the books I read. A Million Junes was…bleh, which sucks cuz I loved Beach Read. All This Time was…exactly what I thought it was going to be. John Green x Nicholas Sparks, LOL. I didn’t LOVE Heiress Apparently as much as I’d hoped I would, either, but it was fine.

I ended up really enjoying the Evie Dunmore books, even though they’re a bit slower and take longer to really fall in to. I really loved Make Up Break Up, and can’t wait to read more adult stuff from Lily (Aka Sandhya) Menon. The second and third Brown sisters books by Talia Hibbert were like candy—so good.

This past month, I finally sat down and made a very serious, ,multi-page, TBR spreasheet–sorted by type, month, etc. It’s A LOT, but it’s helpful!

Here’s what I have on the calendar for November, which includes an attempt to read the Darker Shades of Magic during election working.

A Darker Shade of Magic
Gathering of Shadows
A Conjuring of Light
Well Met
Well Played
Kate in Waiting
Bloom
Leave the World Behind
Tokyo Ever After
And We’re Off
Super Fake Love Song
Scythe
Thunderhead
The Toll
We Dream of Space
Hollowpox
The Plus
An Indigenous Peoples’ History of the US
Promised Land
My Own Words

The Obama and Ginsburg books I’ll do on audio. The Indigenous Peoples’ History is for DAR book club. I’m SO hype for Hollowpox but still waiting for my Owlcrate Jr Box, and there are a few BOTM ones here as well: And We’re Off, Well Met, and Leave the World Behind.

ARC wise, I’m going to try and knock out Super Fake Love Song, Tokyo Ever After, and Kate in Waiting, even though the later two don’t come out til Spring and I should really prioritize better…
