I love trolling the book catalogs, looking for an under-the-radar new release or debut that will blow me away, but I always gasp and go “ooh” when I see a new book promised from a big name author, especially one I’ve enjoyed before. There are so so many authors I routinely search on Edelweiss hoping for a new release…and at least these 8 authors are delivering this fall. Let’s dive in
Ellen Hopkins–Sync (August 27, 2024)
Ellen Hopkins, the queen of YA novels in verse, is back with her typical gripping tale and I can’t wait to get my hands on this one.
“Told in dual perspectives through unsent letters, at turns heartbreaking and always honest, this latest novel in verse from #1 New York Times bestselling author Ellen Hopkins is a searing and unforgettable account of two teens caught in the teeth of the foster care system, fighting their way out and back to each other.”
Casey McQuiston–The Pairing (August 6, 2024)
In all honesty, I haven’t read every McQuiston book because I still haven’t read One Last Stop, but i loved RWRB and Shara Wheeler, and I’m excited to read this new one too!
” Two bisexual exes accidentally book the same European food and wine tour and challenge each other to a hookup competition to prove they’re over each other—except they’re definitely not.”
Jodi Picoult–By Any Other Name (August 20, 2024)
Jodi is an auto-buy author for me, no shame. I trust her completely with her books, but this one has me curious–a historical fiction, oooh.
“Told in intertwining timelines, By Any Other Name, a sweeping tale of ambition, courage, and desire centers two women who are determined to create something beautiful despite the prejudices they face. Should a writer do whatever it takes to see her story live on . . . no matter the cost? This remarkable novel, rooted in primary historical sources, ensures the name Emilia Bassano will no longer be forgotten.”
Nicholas Sparks–Counting Miracles (September 24, 2024)
I haven’t read a Sparks book in years, but I always love when he publishes a new book, because then I don’t have to go shopping for my Nana anymore.
“Tanner Hughes was raised by his grandparents, following in his grandfather’s military footsteps to become an Army Ranger. His whole life has been spent abroad, and he is the proverbial rolling stone: happiest when off on his next adventure, zero desire to settle down. But when his grandmother passes away, her last words to him are find where you belong. She also drops a bombshell, telling him the name of the father he never knew—and where to find him….As these characters’ fates orbit closer together, none of them is expecting a miracle . . . but that may be exactly what is about to alter their futures forever.”
Rainbow Rowell–Slow Dance (July 30, 2024)
I do miss the joy of slipping into a Rainbow Rowell novel, especially an adult one. I enjoyed her adult books so much more than her YA even! Except this description makes me nervous for my emotional stability..
“Back in high school, everybody thought Shiloh and Cary would end up together . . . everybody but Shiloh and Cary. They were just friends. Best friends. Allies. They spent entire summers sitting on Shiloh’s porch steps, dreaming about the future. They were both going to get out of north Omaha—Shiloh would go to go to college and become an actress, and Cary would join the Navy. They promised each other that their friendship would never change. Well, Shiloh did go to college, and Cary did join the Navy. And yet, somehow, everything changed.”
Sally Rooney–Intermezzo (September 24, 2024)
Cannot wait to be emotionally wrecked by this one! I’ve already cleared my calendar.
“For two grieving brothers and the people they love, this is a new interlude—a period of desire, despair, and possibility; a chance to find out how much one life might hold inside itself without breaking.
Katharine McGee–The Queen’s Game (November 12, 2024)
Is Katharine maybe only a big name author to me? Yes, but I don’t care–I led a national book club that devoured American Royals, so I’m eager for this one too!
“Katharine McGee invites you to visit 19th century Europe and the last glittering decade of the monarchies. Three princesses struggle to find love — two will become Queens one day…one will die tragically young. Think Bridgerton meets American Royals, inspired by true events.”
Ally Carter–The Most Wonderful Crime of the Year (September 24, 2024)
I loved Gallagher Girls, and I’m along for whatever ride Ally Carter wants to take me on. I picked up this ARC at ALA Annual and cannot wait to curl up with it.
“Knives Out gets a holiday rom-com twist in this rivals-to-lovers romance-mystery from New York Times bestselling author Ally Carter.”
