September 2020 Reading Recap

Wow, am I glad that September is over. I feel like I sprinted through the whole thing, but I’m also very suprised it’s over? Well, we’re in the home stretch of the year–the last quarter–and I’ve got some serious reading to get to.

My September reading wasn’t too bad. I read a few books that took me longer than anticipated, which was fine, but I also only got off track a FEW times and that’s because a new book came in at the library earlier than I thought (just a graphic novel) and I had to move up an ARC so I could discuss it on a conference call. Oops. That’s on me.

I DID however, finally finish my challenge of reading all the Newbery Winners since I was born!

Anyway!

Here’s what I read this month:

  • Bud Not Buddy
  • The Mindful Day (audio)
  • Crispin: Cross of Lead
  • Song Below Water
  • Big Friendship (BOTM)
  • The Moment of Lift
  • Wilder Girls
  • BSC: Logan Likes Mary Anne!
  • Hex Vet: The Flying Surgery
  • Speaking for Myself
  • Next Year in Havana (audio)
  • Plain Bad Heroines (ARC)
  • Nat Enough
  • Forget Me Nat
  • Troubled Blood
  • Get a Life,Chloe Brown
  • The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue (ARC)
  • The Night Swim (BOTM)
  • When Stars Are Scattered
  • Founding Brothers
  • The Vanishing Half (BOTM)
  • Becoming Brianna

So…yeah. I got a good amount of reading done, but there’s still so much road ahead. I’m trying to catch up on my BOTM books by the end of the year…and yet I just ordered 4. In my defense, 2 of them are books for my DAR book club and therefore don’t count because I won’t read them until closer to the date in 2021 but…still. Oh, and I already have Transcendent Kingdom but I’m also not going to read that until closer to our February book club. I swear.

I’ve got SOOO many 2021 ARCs I’m already excited for…but I definitely need to get through my backlog of 2020 stuff FIRST.

Aside from my BOTM books (Ties That Tether, Leave the World Behind, All the Ugly and Wonderful Things, Anxious People, Bringing Down the Duke, Rogue of Own’s One, Miracle Creek)–I’m also going to try and read some of the ARCs that I swear I was super excited about earlier this year. That includes Beautiful Wild, Cobble Hill (new Cecily Von Ziegesar!!!), Super Fake Love Song, Camelot Betrayal, Hollowpox, Heiress Apparently, etc.

I’m also hoping to read the Shades of Magic series by VE Schwab in November? Maybe? Andddddd I’m already planning to take Crescent City (aka House of Earth and Blood) with me for Christmas to FINALLY read because I’m not letting myself order the new ACOTAR book until I read Crescent City which I’ve owned since…March.

Please help.
