Can you believe we’re already three months into the year? It’s been a crazy two months, and I feel like I’ve hardly read anything at all, but then I look at my Goodreads account, and it says I’ve read 37 books this year! That’s a great start towards my goal of 250 books this year…but there is much more reading to do. Especially since I did like half the reading in February that I did in January…
As February ended, I was in the middle of one book that I finished on March 2nd, but I’m going to count that in my February updates as most of it was read in February.
While writing this, I realized my Kindle reading may be inaccurately tracking my reading via Goodreads, and so my March plan is going to be to start another spreadsheet. Sigh. So many spreadsheets.
Let’s recap what I read in February 2026:
4 Dragon Master Books
On my quest to catch up on this 30+ book chapter book series, I read 3 of the books I haven’t read (25, 26, and 27) and re-read book one with my 1st grade book club.
1 and a Skim Booklist Reviews
I read one entire manuscript of a middle grade book to review for Booklist, and then I read about half of another before skimming the end to get my review in on time. Whoops.
Three Adult Book Club Books
This month, I read all of my book club books DURING the month of February. My DAR chapter read James by Percival Everett. My Princeton Book Club read Autobiography of Red, and my in-person book club at East City Books read Birnam Wood, which was the book I finished in early March.
3 Kids Book Club Books (And Some More Pages..)
I do lunch bunch book clubs, and a Friday after school book club. At the beginning of February, I finished one of our Friday book club books, A Split Second. I also read Onyx & Beyond, which we’ll discuss this month. I also read Rise of the Earth Dragon–the first Dragon Masters book, with my Tuesday 1st day book club, and am still in the middle of reading No Talking by Andrew Clements with my 3rd grade book club.
2 Middle Grade/YA Books Just for Me
In an attempt to get rid of more of the physical copies I have at home, I read two middle grade/YA books that I’d had for awhile–Tear This Down by Barbara Dee, which I immediately gifted to a 14 year old I love, and The Story of My Anger, which was a novel-in-verse and which I will drop into a Little Free Library Soon.
Overall Reflections
This month was so busy, and I just didn’t make the time I needed to for shorter books, etc. I didn’t do any audiobooks, because the adult one I had started wasn’t clicking with me, and so my numbers were almost half of what they were in January. And yet, I did all 3 book club books, so that’s a success.
My Favorite Book This Month: Tear This Down by Barbara Dee
Biggest Win This Month: No acquisition of physical books!
Next Month’s Focus: Reading MORE, reading more OFTEN, and catching up on Dragon Masters–reading 28, 29, and 30 before 31 comes out in
